Profit comes down to three numbers
- What a terahash earns a day (hashprice). It moves with the Bitcoin price and network difficulty. Today’s figure, when the live feed has it, is shown below.
- What a terahash costs in power (efficiency × electricity price). A machine at 17.5 J/TH burns 0.42 kWh per TH/s a day; at 5.8¢ that is 2.4¢.
- What the machine costs, and when the revenue halves. The block subsidy halves in April 2028, so the first 18 months earn about twice what the months after do.
- Hashprice

Daily profit by model at UAE hosting rates
| Machine | Revenue a day | Power at 5.8¢ | Net at 5.8¢ | Net at 7.8¢ | Profitable up to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Antminer S19 95 TH/s (34 J/TH) | $3.71 | $4.52 | −$0.82 | −$2.38 | 4.8¢/kWh |
| Antminer S21 200 TH/s (17.5 J/TH) | $7.80 | $4.87 | $2.93 | $1.25 | 9.3¢/kWh |
| Antminer S21 Pro 234 TH/s (15 J/TH) | $9.13 | $4.89 | $4.24 | $2.56 | 10.8¢/kWh |
| Antminer S23 Hyd 580 TH/s (9.5 J/TH) | $22.62 | $7.67 | $14.95 | $12.31 | 17.1¢/kWh |
The pattern holds whatever the day: efficiency decides. The S23 Hyd stays profitable up to about 17¢/kWh, the S21 up to about 9¢, and the S19 only below about 5¢. Compare every current variant on the Antminer S23, S21 and Whatsminer M60 pages.
How far can the Bitcoin price fall?
Revenue moves in step with the Bitcoin price, so each machine has a lowest Bitcoin price at which it still earns more than its power costs. At 5.8¢/kWh and October 2026 difficulty: about $28,000 for an S23 Hyd, $51,000 for an S21 and $100,000 for an S19. With Bitcoin near $82,600, the first two had room; the S19 did not.
Payback: the halving changes the answer
Divide the machine’s price by its net profit a day and you get a payback that is too optimistic, because the block subsidy halves around April 2028. A machine that pays back in 400 days at today’s rate may take far longer once its revenue halves. Work it out day by day with the halving included. Mining from the UAE
- Power price is the lever. Hosting in the UAE at Segments is 6.8¢/kWh all-in (power, cooling, monitoring, cleaning and maintenance; 5.8¢ if you pay installation up front) on a 12-month contract; installation and transport are one-off.
- Heat is the risk. Summer air reaches the mid-40s °C, so cooling and uptime targets matter more than in cooler countries. See hydro, air or immersion cooling in Gulf heat.
- Invoices carry 5% VAT. Every Segments invoice is a UAE tax invoice. For income tax questions, ask a UAE tax adviser.
None of this is a promise. Mining income depends on the Bitcoin price, network difficulty and uptime, all of which change, and a miner can lose value. Run your own numbers in the profitability calculator.
Questions
- Is Bitcoin mining still profitable in 2026?
- For current, efficient machines on power under about 9¢/kWh, yes at October 2026 prices: an Antminer S23 Hyd netted about $15 a day and an S21 about $3 at 5.8¢/kWh. Older machines such as the S19 lost money at the same rate.
- What electricity price makes Bitcoin mining profitable?
- It depends on the machine’s efficiency. At October 2026 hashprice a machine stayed profitable up to about 17¢/kWh for an S23 Hyd (9.5 J/TH), 9¢ for an S21 (17.5 J/TH) and under 5¢ for an S19 (34 J/TH).
- Does the 2028 halving make mining unprofitable?
- It halves the block subsidy, so revenue per terahash roughly halves unless the Bitcoin price rises or difficulty falls. Efficient machines on cheap power are the ones that stay profitable afterwards; include it in any payback you work out.
- Is home mining profitable in the UAE?
- Usually not at residential tariffs, and ASICs are loud and hot. Most UAE buyers host their machines in a data centre with an all-in rate instead.
