Your first 30 days as a mining hosting client

Segments research team · Mis à jour le 23 octobre 2026 · 6 min de lecture

The first month follows a set order: you choose a miner and plan, pay against a UAE tax invoice, we install the machine on a date confirmed with you, it starts sending shares to the pool you chose, and that pool pays your own wallet. Your first monthly bill then charges the kWh the miner actually used.

The first 30 days at a glance

  1. Choose a miner and a plan, read the 12-month hosting agreement and, if you wish, visit a centre first.
  2. Pay. You receive a UAE tax invoice with 5% VAT, the VAT and total also in AED.
  3. Your machine is transported to the centre and installed; we confirm the installation date with you.
  4. You give us your pool details: SegPool or any pool you choose, paying to your own wallet.
  5. The miner comes online and starts sending shares. You see it in your pool and in the client portal.
  6. The pool pays out once your balance reaches its payout threshold, on its own schedule.
  7. Your first monthly hosting invoice arrives, for the kWh actually used.

Below is each step in more detail, with what is normal along the way and when it is worth sending us a message.

Before you pay

Choose the miner and the plan

Compare models on the miners page: hashrate, power draw and efficiency decide both what the machine earns and the size of your hosting bill. Hosting is 6.8¢ per kWh all-in (October 2026); you can pay installation up front for a 5.8¢ rate, or put it in the rate, with nothing up front, at 7.8¢. Each model’s page shows which choices apply to it. See hosting plans and a bill worked out line by line.

Visit if you want to

You can see a hosting centre and take a site tour before you buy. Ask for a visit and we arrange it with you.

Read the agreement

The hosting agreement runs 12 months. Know the key terms before you sign: billing on the kWh actually used; a 95% uptime target, not a guarantee; USD 300 per machine to leave during the first 12 months; USD 150 per machine to disconnect after that, with logistics outside the site extra; and, after the first term, a rate rise of at most 10%, once in any 12 months, on 30 days’ notice.

Payment and your tax invoice

Your invoice is a UAE tax invoice from Segments Cloud Hash FZ-LLC, a licensed UAE company, showing its TRN, 5% VAT (charged to every client, in the UAE or abroad), and the VAT and total also in AED at 3.6725 per USD. Invoice numbers run in one continuous series and are assigned to paid orders. The first invoice also carries the one-off installation and transport charges.

Shipping and installation

Your machine goes to a hosting centre that suits its cooling: hydro machines to a water-cooled hall, air-cooled machines to an air-cooled one. Transport to the site is $150 per machine by default. We confirm the installation date with you; it depends on when the machine reaches the centre.

At installation the miner is racked, connected to power and the network, pointed at your pool and checked to be hashing. Until then it draws no power at the site, so there is nothing to bill.

Your pool, your wallet, your first payout

Choosing a pool

You decide where the hashrate goes. On SegPool, Segments’ own pool, the fee is 1% and payouts go to your own wallet. You can use any other pool instead; then that pool pays you directly, not Segments. Either way, send us the pool account and worker details before installation, and keep your wallet’s keys to yourself. Mining pools explained covers the choice.

First shares

Once the miner is online, it sends shares to the pool, and the pool’s dashboard lists it as an active worker. Pool hashrate is an estimate averaged from those shares, so in the first hours it often reads below or above the miner’s rating; it settles as more shares come in.

First payout

Each pool pays on its own rules. Most credit earnings regularly and send a payout once your balance passes a minimum threshold, which many pools let you set in your account. How long that takes depends on the threshold and on your hashrate: a lower threshold means smaller, more frequent payouts. Check your pool’s threshold and schedule before you start, so the first payout comes when you expect it.

The portal and your first bill

The client portal

Every hosting client gets the client portal at portal.segments.ae, in the same languages as this website. It shows your miners, their hashrate and uptime, and your invoices. Uptime is measured by our ERP from the pool and from an agent on a PC at the site, for every miner, around the clock; how mining uptime is measured explains the method, and the status page shows each centre.

Your first monthly bill

The monthly invoice is the kWh your miners actually used, times your plan’s rate, plus 5% VAT. Estimates assume a 30-day month at the 95% uptime target, so the first bill often differs: if the miner started mid-month, it covers only the kWh used since then, and a month in which the miner ran without a stop costs a little more than the estimate. The worked example shows every line.

When something goes wrong, and when to wait

Repairs

Monitoring is part of the rate. When a hosted miner fails, fans, power supplies and control boards are swapped on site, and hashboards go to our UAE lab. You get a diagnosis and a written quote for parts before any work, and you pay no hosting fee for the unit while it is in repair. Each repaired unit is tested at full load for 12 hours and comes back with photos and a test report; replaced parts carry a 7-day warranty.

What is normal, and when to ask

What you seeUsuallyWhat to do
Pool hashrate above or below the rating in the first hoursNormal: the pool’s figure is an average of sharesWait a day and compare the 24-hour average
Miner briefly offline after a firmware update or a pool changeNormal: it restarts and reconnectsWait; message us if it has not come back within an hour
Earnings differ from day to dayNormal: pool luck, transaction fees and network difficulty move themCompare by the week, not the day
No payout yetNormal until your balance reaches the pool’s thresholdCheck the threshold in your pool account
First bill differs from the estimateNormal: you pay the actual kWhCheck the kWh line against the portal
Hashrate down by about a third for a dayOften a hashboard has dropped outMessage us with the miner’s serial number or worker name
Miner offline in both the pool and the portalNeeds a lookMessage us
Payouts to the wrong wallet, or wrong details on your invoiceNeeds fixingMessage us straight away

Because monitoring is part of the rate, a fault may already be in hand when you notice it. A message with the miner’s serial number or worker name helps us find it quickly.

Questions

How long until my miner is installed?
We confirm the installation date with you. It depends on when the machine reaches the hosting centre.
When do I get my first mining payout?
Payouts come from your pool, not from the host. Most pools pay once your balance passes a payout threshold, on their own schedule; check the threshold and schedule in your pool account.
Do I have to use SegPool?
No. You choose the pool. SegPool charges 1% and pays to your own wallet; with any other pool, that pool pays you directly.
Do I pay hosting while my miner is being repaired?
No. There is no hosting fee for a hosted unit while it is in repair. Parts are quoted in writing after diagnosis, before any work.
Where can I see my miners and invoices?
In the client portal at portal.segments.ae: your miners, their hashrate and uptime, and your invoices. Your pool’s dashboard shows hashrate and payouts too.
